ISG Devices provides precision acoustic measurement instruments and sensing solutions purpose-built for the automotive industry. From NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) testing in R&D labs to fluid level monitoring on production lines, our products help automotive engineers and manufacturers meet stringent quality and performance standards.
Acoustic Testing for Automotive NVH Engineering
Noise, vibration, and harshness performance is one of the most critical factors in vehicle quality perception. Automotive OEMs and their Tier 1 suppliers invest heavily in NVH testing to ensure cabin comfort, reduce road noise intrusion, and meet regulatory noise requirements. ISG Devices supports this process with two complementary acoustic measurement systems.
ACUPRO Impedance Tube System for Material Testing
The ACUPRO Measurement System is an impedance tube designed for rapid, accurate measurement of sound absorption coefficients and transmission loss of automotive acoustic materials. Automotive engineers use ACUPRO to evaluate and compare materials used in headliners, door panels, trunk liners, dash insulators, carpet systems, and engine bay treatments.
Key automotive acoustic testing applications include evaluating sound absorption performance of interior trim materials before installation, comparing candidate materials during the design phase to optimize NVH packages, quality control testing of incoming acoustic materials from suppliers, and measuring transmission loss of barrier materials and multi-layer composites used for noise isolation.
ACUPAVE for Tire-Road Noise Measurement
The ACUPAVE system enables in-situ measurement of pavement and road surface acoustic properties. For automotive manufacturers testing tire-road interaction noise, ACUPAVE provides field-portable sound absorption measurement capability that can be used directly on test track surfaces, public roads, or laboratory specimens without the need to cut samples and bring them into a lab.
This is particularly valuable for engineers working on exterior pass-by noise compliance under UN ECE R51.03 and ISO 362 standards, as well as tire manufacturers developing quieter tire designs.
Fluid Level Sensing for Vehicle Manufacturing
ISG Devices' solid-state fluid level sensors are engineered for the harsh operating conditions found in automotive applications. With no moving parts, a sealed brass body, and the ability to mount in any orientation, these sensors provide reliable fluid level detection for engine coolant systems, automatic transmission fluid reservoirs, hydraulic fluid tanks, engine oil level monitoring, and windshield washer fluid detection.
The sensors operate across a temperature range of -30°C to +120°C, covering the full spectrum of automotive operating conditions. Their solid-state design eliminates the failure modes associated with mechanical float switches, making them ideal for both passenger vehicle and commercial truck applications where reliability is paramount.
Standards Compliance
ISG Devices products support compliance with the key standards used in automotive NVH testing and acoustic material evaluation:
| Standard | Description | ISG Product |
|---|---|---|
| ISO 10534-2 | Determination of sound absorption coefficient and impedance in impedance tubes | ACUPRO |
| ASTM E1050 | Impedance and absorption of acoustical materials using a tube, two microphones, and digital frequency analysis | ACUPRO |
| ASTM E2611 | Measurement of normal incidence sound transmission (transmission loss) | ACUPRO TL Tube |
| ISO 362 | Measurement of noise emitted by accelerating road vehicles | ACUPAVE |
| ISO 13472-1 | In-situ determination of sound absorption coefficient of road surfaces | ACUPAVE |
